8 Days 7 Nights Lake Turkana Special Safari<\/h1>

Lake Turkana, Chalbi Desert, and Samburu Camping Safari<\/h1>

Full Itinerary<\/span><\/h1>

Day 1. Samburu National Reserve<\/strong><\/h3>

Depart Nairobi in the morning, heading north via the shoulder of Mount Kenya to Samburu Game Reserve for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at the campsite.<\/p>

Day 2. Samburu<\/strong><\/h3>

Full day in Samburu with morning and afternoon game drives. All meals and overnight at the campsite.<\/p>

Day 3. Marsabit<\/strong><\/h3>

After breakfast, we head north along the Trans-Africa Highway to Marsabit, an extinct volcano heavily forested on the upper slopes. Set up camp and visit the lodge inside the National Park; see elephants, buffalo, and greater Kudu, among others, the lodge is situated on the rim of the water-filled crater. Thick forests hamper deeper penetration and viewing, so we don’t penetrate further.<\/p>

Day 4. Kalacha<\/strong><\/h3>

Visit Marsabit town and another volcanic crater, and later come back into the desert, where lava flows. Camp at Kalacha, which is a small settlement on the edge of the Chalbi desert,<\/p>

Day 5. Lake Turkana<\/strong><\/h3>

Early morning departure, crossing the Chalbi desert. During periods of wet weather, the desert becomes impassable, and alternative routes to the south and north are utilized instead. Arrive at the campsite outside Loiyangalani and enjoy a cool breeze from the lake soon after lunch. Pitch tents and relax, protected from the scorching sun and heat characteristic of the harsh climate of this remote area.<\/p>

Day 6. Lake Turkana<\/strong><\/h3>

Enjoy a relaxing bath, with the possibility of a brief interruption for a short boat excursion to explore the nearby surroundings, including Loyangalani and its local community. In the evening, consider a optional visit to the Turkana manyattas for traditional dances beneath a starry sky, subject to the clients’ acceptance. This is an experience worth cherishing.<\/p>

Day 7. Maralal<\/strong><\/h3>

We join through south Horr and Baragoi to Maralal, a forested area.<\/p>

Day 8. Nairobi<\/strong><\/h3>

Move southwards via Laikipia and Thomson Falls (Nyahururu) and drive back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.<\/p>
