Full Itinerary at a Glance
Day 01: Nairobi – Samburu National Park
Pick up from the hotel around 8:00 AM – 8:30 AM. Commence the drive to Samburu National Reserve, situated high above the banks of the life-giving Uaso Nyiro River in the Shaba Game Reserve. This lodge cleverly incorporates the beautiful natural springs as one of its special features and offers the perfect base to explore the Shaba Reserve and its sister reserve, Buffalo Springs, to the west. Lunch will be served at the lodge. Enjoy an afternoon game viewing in the reserve, filled with scenic beauty. The reserve is renowned for its unique species of animals, including Somali Ostrich, Reticulated Giraffe, Beisa Oryx, Generuk, and the Grevys Zebra, among others. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Samburu Larsens Tented Camp.
Day 02: Full Day at Samburu National Park
After breakfast, depart from the lodge with picnic lunches for a full day of game viewing until 5:30 PM. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Larsens Tented Camp.
Day 03: Samburu – Mount Kenya National Park
After breakfast at the lodge, depart for Mount Kenya. Spend the afternoon at leisure, where you can take a nature walk to climb a bit of Mt. Kenya. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 04: Mount Kenya, Lake Nakuru, Naivasha
After breakfast, drive past Nyahururu Falls and into the Rift Valley. Have lunch in Nakuru town, followed by an afternoon game viewing drive in Lake Nakuru National Park. Later, drive to Naivasha for dinner and overnight at the lodge. Lake Nakuru is home to millions of flamingos beautifully lining its shores. Lake Nakuru National Park surrounds the lake and was gazetted to protect the colony of flamingos and provide sanctuary for endangered species such as the rhino. Other Savannah games abound, not to mention other bird species. Lake Nakuru Lodge, situated in the south ecological niche of the park, is an oasis of comfort with commanding views of lesser flamingoes dotted with greater flamingoes. An afternoon game drive around the lakeshore will be the feature for the afternoon, dinner, and overnight at Lake Nakuru Lodge.
Day 05: Naivasha – Masai Mara
After breakfast, visit Crescent for a walk or bicycle ride and Hell’s Gate for a boat ride around 11:30 AM. Commence the drive west, passing Mount Longonot and via Narok to the Masai Mara National Reserve. If time allows, do an evening game drive. Check in, and for the next two nights, stay at the excellent Mara Sarova Tented Camp. As the sun starts to edge dip into the horizon, it will be the perfect time to photograph the beautiful Mara rolling plains. Don’t forget; this is the right time to spot the shy leopard. Dinner and overnight at Sarova Mara Tented camp.
Day 06: Full Day in Masai Mara
The day will start with an early morning game drive before dawn, later return to your camp for breakfast, and relax for the rest of the late morning. Perhaps take a dip in the swimming pool. In the late afternoon, return to the wilderness in search of games. All meals and overnight at Sarova Mara Tented camp.
Day 07: Masai Mara – Nairobi
After breakfast, drive back to Nairobi, arriving in time for lunch at Carnivore Restaurant. Later, transfer to the airport for your onward flight. Make sure you discover our full range of once-in-a-lifetime Kenyan safaris.
