5 Days Mount Kenya Chogoria Trek
This is by far the most spectacular and beautiful route on Mt. Kenya
Itinerary at a Glance
This route is unquestionably the most magnificent and stunning option on Mt. Kenya. It involves ascending via the Chogoria Route and descending through the Naro Moru Route, but it is important to note that this route is only accessible during dry weather conditions.
Day 1: Chogoria Gate Cliffs
In the morning, depart from the Naro Moru River Lodge after getting your equipment ready. You will be transported through Nanyuki, passing through Timau, Meru, and ultimately arriving at Chogoria Town. From there, your journey will lead you to the rainforest gate, located at an elevation of 3,200 meters. Your overnight accommodation will be at the Gate Cliffs in tents.
Day 2: Mintos Hut
Following breakfast, embark on a trek to Mintos Hut, perched at an altitude of 4,300 meters. Lunch will be provided en route. The trekking duration is approximately 4-5 hours.
Day 3: Lake Michaelson / Mintos Hut
Trek along Gorges Valley descending to Lake Michaelson, then Lunch at Vivienne. Trek through the magnificent castle rocks to Mintos Hut and overnight – “whole day hiking”
Day 4: Ascent to Point Lenana
Hike up through Square Tarn to climax at Pt. Lenana, 4985m which is the third highest peak on Mt. Kenya. Descend via Austrian Hut then down to Mackinder’s camp for overnight in our Teleki Lodge at 4150m, walking time 5-6 hours.
Day 5: Descent via Naro Moru Route
Descend via Naro Moru Route vertical bog arriving at Met Station before 12.00 noon, where our vehicles will be waiting to bring you down to Naro Moru River Lodge.
Lunch at the Lodge is extra unless where booked on full board.
